Since 2010, the FIFA World Cup trophy has travelled in a bespoke Louis Vuitton trunk — handmade at the Asnières atelier, built to protect 6.175 kilograms of 18-carat gold and malachite, and opened on the pitch before each final in front of the largest live audience in sport. South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014, Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022 each had their case; Gisele Bündchen’s escorting of the 2014 trunk remains one of the most circulated luxury images of that decade.

The trunk is the purest expression of Louis Vuitton’s object-led sport strategy: the house does not sponsor the tournament — it houses the prize. Note: a 2026 edition has not yet been confirmed in available sources at the time of writing; the precedent spans 2010–2022 and this record will be updated as the final approaches.
